Harper's end game in his assault on the Chief Justice

Chief Justice Beverley McLaughlin Is an honourable person who has a clear love for justice and the Supreme Court.

Of course that is just what Harper is counting on here. It is inevitable that as his assault continues
Beverley McLachlin will come to the conclusion that for the good of the court and justice in general  it will be necessary to at the very least step down as Chief Justice if not from the court itself.

To me that is Harper's end game here. Honourable people such as Chief Justice McLaughlin are at a distinct disadvantage when dealing with Harper's machinations as they are restrained by that honour, Harper is not and knows how to exploit this.

In the end Harper will end up with his choice as Chief Justice and quite possibly another crony appointed to the court

I heartily agree with your comments except that I believe Harper may finally have met his match! For the very reasons you mention, I believe Justice McLauglin will want to put this poser in his place and cannot consider resignation, for the good of the court AND Canadian justice in general. Being ignorant of the law is no excuse, Mr. Harper.
